Riverlight Restorative Health
Medical Weight loss
Your first visit begins with a consultation with a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Joanna Liberatore MSN FNP-C. During your thorough 1.5 hour consultation, we spend time learning about your specific challenges and goals so we can tailor our approach to meet your individual needs. The FNP works with you to determine the medications, hormones, peptides, or amino acid blends that may work best for you. We believe each patient is unique and deserves a program that meets their needs, rather than being boxed into a program meant to work for everyone.
What is Medical Weight Loss?
More than one in three adults in the U.S. are considered to have medical obesity. Having a higher weight can increase the risk of a variety of health problems, leading to an increased risk of diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and depression. One study found that obesity can also shorten one’s lifespan by as much as fourteen years.
Understanding how to lose weight can seem daunting, but collaborating with a Nurse Practitioner on a medical weight loss plan can provide an ideal way to lose weight and maintain it. Our enthusiastic, empathetic, and caring professionals will empower, encourage and mentor you towards your goals.
Weight Loss Medications
Are you an adult who has serious health problems because of your weight? Have you tried diet and exercise but haven’t been able to lose enough weight? If you answered yes to these questions, a prescription weight-loss drug may be an option for you. You should know, however, that prescription weight-loss drugs are used in addition to – not instead of – diet and exercise. Before selecting a medicine for you, we will consider your medical history, current medications, and health challenges. Then, the provider will discuss the pros and cons of prescription weight-loss drugs. We realize that you know your body better than we do, and therefore, any decision made will be mutual and respectful of your wishes.
Weight loss medication may be prescribed to help complement the weight loss diet or exercise. Your Nurse Practitioner will monitor you carefully if you are using these medications to ensure you are healthy while taking them. Specific blood work and an EKG are ordered to ensure safety. Patients are very closely monitored, and regular follow-up visits are required.
lt’s All About YOU!
The relationship with you comes first; hands down. Our approach is rooted in the understanding that sometimes, no matter how much we plan, things happen! Occasionally, these hiccups lead to unnecessary weight gain, even after the completion of a weight loss program. With this in mind, every patient of RRH is a patient for life; once you’ve decided to join us, if you ever experience a setback in the future, we’ll be here to help you get back on track. Having a plan that is personalized to help frt your unique goals, lifestyle and personal preferences helps the plan to be more successful. Not only is it easier to implement a personalized plan, but it is also much easier to stay on the plan than it is to adhere to a one-size-fits-all diet or weight loss program.
